Dismissal of Somayeh Akhtarshomar, Marivan Teachers' Union Activist, from Education Department

According to received reports, Somayeh Akhtarshomar, a 36-year-old married teacher from the village of Rovar in the Sarvabad district, with 17 years of work experience, has been dismissed from the Education Department by the Primary Board for Administrative Violations of Employees in Kurdistan Province.

On January 13, 2024, the Marivan Education Department accused Ms. Akhtarshomar in a letter to the Primary Board for Administrative Violations of Employees of Kurdistan Province. The accusations included "publishing offensive content and spreading false news against the Islamic Republic, active membership in illegal teachers' union channels on social media, posting provocative content in the Marivan, Sarvabad, and Iranian teachers' union channels, designing internal English exam questions in support of protesters, mentioning protesters in comprehension and language questions and publishing them on social media, supporting Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government and publishing it on social media, posting unveiled pictures of herself on social media and supporting divisive slogans, publishing pictures of unveiled students and posting subversive slogans on social media, and posting pictures of her child in clothes of Kurdish opposition parties on her personal page with the parties' slogans and the Kurdistan flag, and posting content in the Iranian Teachers' Union channels."

The Administrative Violations Board of Kurdistan Province issued the dismissal of this teacher on May 16, 2023, without her or her attorney being present.
