Statistics of human rights situation in January 2024, in Iranian Kurdistan

Hana Human Rights Organization Statistics Center has prepared a statistical report on the situation of human rights and violation of fundamental rights of Kurdish citizens in January 2024 in Iranian Kurdistan.

Based on the statistics registered in the statistical center of Hana Human Rights Organization, in January 2024, at least 28 Kurdish citizens were executed and one citizen died in prison due to torture, at least 109 Kurdish citizens were arrested, 49 Kolbers and businessmen were killed. and injured, 5 prisoners went on hunger strike, 2 workers had an accident while working and died, at least 13 people committed suicide and 16 people died in accidents on the unsafe roads of Kurdistan.


Arrests:
In January 2024, at least 109 Kurdish citizens, including 4 children, were summoned and detained by the security institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran arbitrarily and without any arrest warrant issued by the court.
The identity of all these people has been verified by the human rights organization Hana, and most of them have been arrested on charges of political activity, cooperation with Kurdish opposition parties of the Islamic Republic, environmental activities, civil activities and also religious activities. According to these statistics, 10 women and 99 men are among those arrested. In January, 3 prisoners were sentenced to death for (Mofsed on Earth) corruption on the earth and five were sentenced to death for (Moharbeh) fighting against god . In this month, 14 prisoners were sentenced to a total of 390 months in prison.
 
Execution:
In January 2024, at least 28 Kurdish citizens were executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Out of this total, five political prisoners were executed for (Moharbah) fighting against God, 15 were executed for drug-related crimes, 5 were executed for armed robbery, and 2 were executed for intentional murder. A Kurdish citizen named Peyman Abdi died in prison due to torture.
 
Kolbers:
According to Hanna's statistics, at least 49 Kolbers were killed and wounded in January 2024. Out of this number, 6 people were killed, all of them were killed by direct fire from the government forces. According to these statistics, 39 Kolbers were injured by direct fire from the government forces, 4 Kolbers injured due to a car accident caused by the pursuit by the forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 
 
   Suicide:
In January 2024, at least 13 people committed suicide in the cities and villages of Kurdistan. Among the suicides, 7 were women and 6 were men. Most of these suicides were due to family problems and some were due to unknown reasons. One of the suicides was a soldier and he committed suicide in one of the government barracks. Also, one case was a doctor who committed suicide and lost his life due to being fired from his job.

Workers:
In January 2024, two workers died due to a work accident, and a number of labor activists, including a woman, were arrested.

Accident:
The roads of Kurdistan are not safe, do not having  recognized  standards, and the cars are in bad condition, killing a number of citizens every day. In January, at least 16 people were killed due to an accident and dozens were injured.
