Saqqez teacher Suleiman Abdi was sentenced to imprisonment and flogging

Based on the reports received; On Monday, July 17, 2023, Suleiman Abdi, a teacher and member of the Kurdistan Teachers' Union of Saqqez and Ziviye branch, was sentenced to eight months in prison and 70 lashes by Branch 105 of the Criminal Court of Saqqez on the charge of "disturbance of public order and peace by participating in illegal gatherings in the Aichi cemetery".
According to received reports; The court changed Suleiman Abdi's eight-month imprisonment to 720 hours of teaching to the people covered by the Relief Committee and suspended his punishment of 70 lashes for two years.
It should be noted that Suleiman Abdi was arrested by the government forces on Sunday, March 19, 2023, and on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, after the interrogation process, he was transferred to Saqqez prison from the detention center of the Sanandaj Intelligence Department, and then on Monday, April 2023, he was temporarily released from the central prison of Saqqez after posting a heavy bond of 200 million tomans.
