Azad Abbasi, a civil activist from Dehgolan, was arrested to serve his prison sentence

According to Hana Human Rights Organization colleagues,Thursday, November 1, 2024, Azad Abbasi, a civil activist and Kurdish language instructor from Dehgolan, was detained after being summoned to the Sentence Enforcement Branch of the Qorveh Court. He was then transferred to Qorveh Central Prison to serve his two-year prison sentence.

This civil activist was sentenced on February 17, 2024, by Branch 102 of the Second Criminal Court of Dehgolan to one year in prison for “propaganda against the regime” and 48 months for “insulting the leadership.”

Azad Abbasi was initially detained by security forces on September 17, 2023, and was temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison on October 24, 2023, after posting bail.

He was also arrested on September 8, 2023, after being summoned to the Dehgolan Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office and was transferred to Qorveh Prison to serve his sentence.

Previously, on November 27, 2022, he was sentenced by the Dehgolan Criminal Court to 10 months in prison for “propaganda against the regime,” 18 months for “disturbing public order,” and 48 months for “assembly and collusion against national security.”

It is worth mentioning that he was previously arrested during the 2022 protests, detained for interrogation, then transferred to Sanandaj Prison, and later released on bail.
