Mehrab Abdollahzadeh was sentenced to death

According to Hana, Mehrab Abdollahzadeh, a 27-year-old son of Mohammad Amin, originally from the village of “Khoshalan” in Orumiyeh and residing in Vali Asr town, has been sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, on charges of “rebellion” (Baghi).

This sentence was communicated to Mr. Abdollahzadeh in late September 2024 in Orumiyeh Central Prison.

Mehrab Abdollahzadeh was arrested on October 22, 2022, in Vali Asr town, Orumiyeh, by security forces and subsequently transferred to one of Orumiyeh’s secret security detention centers. During his detention, he was subjected to severe psychological and physical torture by security interrogators. Following this, he was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh in a completely unfair trial, deprived of even the minimum rights recognized for a defendant, even under the laws of the Islamic Republic.

It is worth noting that Mr. Abdollahzadeh’s family is under pressure and threats from security agencies to prevent them from spreading news about his case.

Hana Human Rights Organization has expressed deep concern about the possible secret execution of Mehrab Abdollahzadeh’s death sentence and calls for the urgent attention of human rights organizations to pressure the Islamic Republic of Iran to halt the execution.
