The inhumane sentence of finger amputation was carried out on two prisoners in Orumiyeh prison

Hana: Early this morning, Tuesday, October 30, 2023, the sentence of amputating four fingers on the right hand of two brothers, “Shahab Teymouri,” 39, and “Mehrdad Teymouri,” 34, residents of Sarpol-e Zahab and living in Karaj, was carried out with a guillotine device in Orumiyeh prison in the presence of judicial officials and the General Directorate of Prisons of West Azerbaijan Province.
According to received reports, after the execution of the sentence, the two prisoners were transferred to Khomeini Hospital in Orumiyeh for medical treatment and are currently denied the right to family visits and contact. According to a source, this sentence was carried out under pressure from Hossein Majidi, the Orumiyeh Prosecutor, and Khanzadeh, the head of Orumiyeh Central Prison.
It is noteworthy that the two brothers were transferred from Islamabad-e Gharb Prison to solitary confinement in Orumiyeh Central Prison on October 23, 2023. Shahab and Mehrdad Teymouri, along with another citizen identified as “Ebrahim Khatibi,” were arrested on December 6, 2018, in Malard, Karaj, on charges of “theft.” On July 24, 2019, they were sentenced by Branch One of the Criminal Court in Orumiyeh to amputation of their right-hand fingers, and this sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court in April 2020.
