Naser Bakrzadeh, a prisoner from Orumiyeh, has been sentenced to death

Hana: In recent days, a 25-year-old Kurdish prisoner named Naser Bakrzadeh from Orumiyeh was sentenced to death by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in this city, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, on charges of “espionage for Israel.”

The hearing on the charges against this prisoner was held on November 2, 2024.

According to Hana’s sources, Naser Bakrzadeh was arrested by security forces in Orumiyeh on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. After several weeks, he was temporarily released on bail. However, on January 2, 2024, he was re-arrested by security forces, and after months of interrogation at the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center at Al-Mahdi Base in Orumiyeh, he was transferred to the city’s central prison.

It is worth noting that in recent days, three other citizens—Azad Shojaei and Edris Ali, both from the village of Dolah Garm in Sardasht’s vicinity, and Rasul Ahmad Mohammad from Sulaymaniyah in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region—were sentenced to death by the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court on charges of “espionage for Israel.” The sentences were communicated to them in early November 2024.

The Hana Human Rights Organization has expressed serious concern about the imminent execution of these prisoners, given the ongoing hostile relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel. Hana urges human rights organizations to address the issue of these retaliatory death sentences with urgency.
