In support of the general strike call on the second anniversary of Zhina Amini's state-sanctioned killing
01:24 - 12/9/2024
After the killing of Zhina Amini, Kurdistan and Iran have faced the highest levels of human rights repression. Widespread arrests, torture, systematic oppression, and violent crackdowns have become routine actions by Iranian government security forces. Despite international condemnations, Iranian authorities continue their brutal suppression of Kurds and other dissenting voices.
In response to this situation, solidarity and unity are essential! On the occasion of the second anniversary of Zhina’s state-sanctioned murder, civil and human rights activists within the country have called for a general strike across Kurdistan on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
We, the undersigned civil and human rights organizations, declare our support for this call and urge the people of Kurdistan and Iran to participate in the general strike in a peaceful and civil manner. We also call on the international community to increase oversight of human rights abuses against the Kurdish people in Iran.
