03:41 - 26/8/2024
According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, a few days ago, a master craftsman identified as Mohammad Rahnamon, son of Mahmoud and a resident of Bukan, suffered severe electrocution while using a construction elevator. On Sunday, August 25, 2024, he succumbed to his injuries at Bukan Hospital.
Mohammad Rahnamon, who was married and the father of two children, was one of the experienced master craftsmen from Bukan. It is worth mentioning that on Saturday, August 24, 2024, another young worker named Zanko Qaderi, also from Bukan, lost his life due to electrocution while working in Azarshahr.
The lack of proper oversight by officials on work procedures and worker safety, as well as the irresponsibility of employers, are major causes of the lack of workplace safety in Iran, especially in Kurdistan. This situation has led to Iran being ranked 102nd globally in terms of workplace safety, making it a very unsafe country for workers. Despite these conditions, anti-labor laws and the support of officials for employers have left workers without any right to protest the lack of workplace safety.
