57 Kurdish citizens were executed in Iranian prisons during the first 6 months of 2024

HANA: The statistics center of the Human Rights Organization HANA, provides the statistics recorded in the center, which pertain to human rights incidents and events in the provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam, Kurdistan, and West Azerbaijan (Urmia). These statistics have been prepared with the utmost effort of HANA's colleagues and certainly, given the censorship in Iran, cannot cover all incidents and events.
The statistics center of Hana Human Rights Organization, in this section, presents the statistics of the execution of Kurdish citizens during the first 6 months of 2024, in various areas of Kurdistan provinces as recorded in this statistics center.
According to these statistics, a total of 57 Kurdish citizens were executed in Iranian prisons over the past 6 months. The names and details of all these citizens have been verified and recorded by HANA, and the specifics of the charges presented by the Islamic Republic of Iran are as follows:
- Execution due to drug-related crimes: 32 people
- Execution due to intentional murder: 13 people
- Execution due to insurgency and political crimes: 7 people
- Execution due to armed robbery: 5 people
- Killed under torture by prison officials: 2 people
In the first 6 months of 2024, a total of 7 political prisoners were executed. Mohsen Mazlom, Vafa Azarbar, Mohammad Faramarzi, and Pejman Fatehi, members of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, were executed for political activities, and Khosro Basharat, Farhad Salimi, and Anwar Khezri were executed for religious activities.
The Hana Human Rights Organization considers execution to be governmental murder, an abominable and inhumane act, and calls for the immediate cessation of execution sentences in Iran.
