According to received reports, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Siwan Ebrahimi, a Kurdish language teacher and member of the board of the cultural and social association (Nojin), was summoned to the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, arrested, and transferred to the city's prison to serve his sentence.
Siwan Ebrahimi is 29 years old and from Kamyaran.
Previously, he was sentenced by the first branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mohammad Karami, to 10 years in prison for "forming groups and gatherings with the intention of disrupting national security" and one year in prison for "propaganda against the regime," totaling 11 years. However, in the appeals court, he was acquitted of the charge of "forming groups and gatherings with the intention of disrupting national security," and his one-year prison sentence was reduced to eight months.
On Saturday, December 30, 2023, Mr. Ebrahimi was transferred to Sanandaj Prison to serve a one-year sentence for "disrupting public order" and was ultimately released from prison on Monday, June 24, 2024.
In August 2023, Siwan Ebrahimi was sentenced by the 106th branch of the Sanandaj Criminal Court to one year in prison, exile to Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah, and 40 lashes for "disrupting public order." On Saturday, December 2, his prison and flogging sentences were confirmed in the Kurdistan Province appeals court, and his exile to Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah was canceled.
It is worth noting that on Wednesday, January 17, 2023, he was arrested without a judicial warrant and then temporarily released from Sanandaj Prison on Monday, February 13, 2023, after posting bail.
