Three-Year Prison Sentence for Bukan Youth on Charges of Supporting Israel

According to Hana colleagues, Mehdi Majidi, a young man from Bukan, was sentenced to three years in prison by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court on charges of supporting Israel, promoting propaganda against the Islamic Republic, and insulting the leadership.

Mehdi Majidi was arrested by security forces on Monday, November 6, 2023. After spending time in detention at the Urmia Information Detention Center, he was transferred to Bukan Central Prison. In January of the same year, he was released on bail of 500 million tomans until the end of the legal proceedings.

Currently, Majidi has appealed the sentence, and his case has been sent to the Court of Appeals.

The Islamic Republic has consistently accused political opposition figures of supporting countries like the United States and Israel. However, this policy has now reached a point where ordinary citizens who voice opposition to the government's policies are also being accused of supporting Israel.
