Appeals by Reza Rasaei's lawyers were denied by the Supreme Court

According to the report of Dadban Legal Group, on Monday, January 22, 2024, the first branch of the Supreme Court, without considering all the flaws and ambiguities in the case, considered the request for retrial by the lawyers of political prisoner Reza Rasaei as "lacking legal conditions".

The legal team of Dadban pointed out the rejection of the request for the resumption of the trial, the testimony of new witnesses about Reza Rasaei's innocence, and other flaws in the case, including the lack of sufficient reasons for the resumption of the trial.

Mr. Rasaei was arrested by the security forces in the city of Karaj on November 24, 2022, and after the interrogation process was completed, he was transferred from the detention center of IRGC Intelligence Organization to Dizilabad prison in Kermanshah.

Earlier, Reza Rasaei was arrested by the second branch of the Kermanshah Criminal Court on the charge of "murdering Nader Bayrami, the intelligence chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, being responsible for non-intentional non-fatal injuries that did not lead to death, show of force with a knife and disturbing public order by creating commotion and Controversy" was sentenced to execution (qisas nafs), payment of dowry, one year imprisonment and 74 lashes.

Reza Rasaei, a Kurdish citizen who follows the Yarsan religion, was sentenced to execution by the 2nd branch of the Kermanshah Criminal Court on the charge of premeditated murder, and then in the last days of December, 2023, it was confirmed by the 17th branch of the Supreme Court headed by Judge Barani.
