The death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi was overturned by the Supreme Court.

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, the sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a political prisoner, was overturned by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court.

Amir Raeesian, Sharifeh Mohammadi’s lawyer, in an interview with Sharq Network, stated that her death sentence was overturned by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court, and her case has been referred to an equivalent branch for re-examination.

Sharifeh Mohammadi, who is currently held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, was convicted of the charge of “rebellion” (baghi) and sentenced to death.

Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor activist imprisoned in Lakan Prison, was sentenced to death on July 4, 2024, by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht on the charge of “rebellion.” The issuance of this sentence sparked widespread reactions from labor, civil, and political activists, as well as several independent and syndicate organizations and human rights bodies.

Her court session to address the charges took place on June 8, 2024, in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, where she was tried for “propaganda against the regime, actions against national security, and rebellion through membership in an opposition group.”

Previously, this political prisoner had also been charged with “propaganda against the regime, actions against national security, and rebellion through membership in one of the opposition groups” by Branch 4 of the Rasht Prosecutor’s Office, presided over by Judge Rajabi.

Sharifeh Mohammadi was arrested on December 5, 2023, by intelligence agents at her home. On December 29, 2023, she was transferred from Lakan Prison in Rasht to Sanandaj Prison and was later returned to Lakan Prison after some time.
