"According to reports from the Hanaa Human Rights Organization, in recent days, Mojgan Kavoosi, a political prisoner from Kelardasht in Mazandaran province, had her prison sentence reduced to 12 months after her request for a review was accepted by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court and her case was referred to Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Sari."
"According to received reports, the request for a review of this political prisoner's case was filed by her lawyers, Maziar Tataei and Osman Mazin, with the Supreme Court. On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Branch 39 of the Supreme Court accepted the request.
After the case of Mojgan Kavoosi was referred to Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Sari, the sentence for this Kurdish political prisoner was reduced to 12 months of imprisonment based on the ruling issued on August 12, 2024.
Ms. Kavoosi has been serving the remainder of her sentence on furlough since June 15, 2024. On Monday, December 18, 2023, she was arrested after being summoned to the Branch of Criminal Enforcement in Kelardasht and was transferred to Tonekabon Prison in Mazandaran to serve 39 months of imprisonment.
Previously, Ms. Kavoosi was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sari to 15 months and one day for insulting the Supreme Leader, 39 months for conspiring against national security, and 8 months for anti-regime propaganda. According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 39 months of imprisonment is enforceable as the most severe punishment for this civil activist.
This activist was arrested at her home in Kelardasht by security forces on September 22, 2022, and was later released on January 3, 2023, after posting a heavy bail of 3 billion tomans. It is worth mentioning that on December 20, 2022, she was initially charged with "corruption on earth" by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sari but was later acquitted of this charge by the same court."
