Statistics of the human rights situation in the first three months of 2023, in Kurdistan, Iran

Hana: Hana Human Rights Organization Statistics Center publishes its statistical report on the human rights situation and violation of fundamental rights of Kurdish citizens in the first three months of 2023 in Kurdistan of Iran. Due to the lack of free access to news and events inside the country, this statistic cannot include all cases of violations of citizens' rights, but all the efforts have been implemented to be extremely careful in entering the news and verifying the published cases.

Based on the statistics registered in the statistical center of Hana Human Rights Organization, during the past three months (January, February and March), at least 337 Kurdish citizens have been arrested, 46 people have been executed, 24 Kulbar (piggyback) have been killed and injured, 4 labours had an accident while working and died, at least 16 people committed suicide, 2 people were killed by mines and 6 women were assassinated.
Arrests:
In the first three months of 2023, at least 337 Kurdish citizens have been arrested by the security institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran arbitrarily and without any arrest order from the court.
The identity of all these people has been verified by Hana Human Rights Organization, and most of them have been arrested on charges of political activity, participation in demonstrations, cooperation with Kurdish opposition parties of the Islamic Republic, and civil activities. According to these statistics, 16 of the arrested are women and 33 are children and teenagers under 18 years old.
Executions:
Based on Hana's statistics, in the first quarter of 2023, 46 Kurdish citizens were executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Kurdistan and other cities of Iran, 17 of them for murder, 24 for drug-related crimes, and 3 were executed for war (muhariba) crimes.
Also, a prisoner committed suicide in Urmia prison in a suspicious manner.

Children:
In the first three months of 2023, 33 children were arrested by government forces. Also, 2 children have committed suicide.
Kolbers (piggyback):
Based on Hana's statistics, in January, February and March 2023, 24 Kolbar were killed and wounded. Of these, 5 people were killed and 19 people were injured. 8 of the injured were wounded by government forces and by direct fire, and one of the killed died by direct fire by government forces.

Women:
In the first three months of 2023, at least 16 women were arrested by government forces
Also, 6 women were killed, 3 of them were killed by their husbands and 3 were killed by unknown people.

Suicide:
Based on the statistics recorded in the Hana Statistics Center, 16 people have committed suicide in the cities and villages of Kurdistan in these three months. 11 of these people were male and 5 were female. 2 children are also seen among the suicides. These suicides were due to livelihood reasons and family disputes, and 3 cases were due to mental and emotional pressure by the officers of the Islamic Republic.
Workers:
Based on the statistics recorded in the Hana Statistics Center, 4 workers died due to work accidents in the first three months of this year.

Mine:
And finally, in these three months, 2 people were killed due to the explosion of a mine planted by the government forces in the border areas of Kurdistan.
