Urmia; Shaker Behrouz, a Kurdish political prisoner, was transferred to an unknown place

Hana: According to the latest news received by Hana Human Rights Organization, Shaker Behrouz, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to death, was transferred to an unknown place on Thursday, November 24, 2022.

Shaker Behrouz was arrested by the security forces on March 10, 2018 for being a member of one of the opposition parties (Kurdistan Democratic Party), and on Saturday, April 10, 2018, he was transferred to Urmia prison after being detained for about a month in the intelligence IRGC's detention center of Urmia.

Mr. Behrouz was sentenced to death by Branch 2 of Urmia Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Ali Sheikh Lu in September 2019. This judgement was reversed by the Supreme Court in July of last year and was referred to the same branch for reconsideration. In July of this year, this citizen was sentenced to death by the 1st Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia due to the impeachment of banditry through membership in one of the opposition parties.

Shaker Behrouz has been transferred to solitary confinement, quarantine or transferred to an unknown place for several times. Considering that the death sentence of Shaker Behrouz is confirmed, concerns have been raised about the unjust execution of this Kurdish political prisoner.

Shaker Behrouz is Salim's son, 33 years old, single and a resident of Dizaj region of Urmia.
