Protest gathering of women's rights activists in Sanandaj regarding the murder of Shalier Rasouli

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, a group of women's rights activists in Sanandaj gathered in front of the court of justice in Sanandaj to protest against the death of Shalier Rasouli, the victim of an attempted rape in the city of Marivan, who died after being in a coma for several days. They reacted to this by reading a statement.

In part of the statement of women's rights activists, it is stated:
"What has forced us to react today and is clearly evident is the systematic nature of these violence. Unfortunately, not only is there no mechanism to stop the person in power from committing violence, but in an unwritten agreement, violence against women has been normalized and there are no serious consequences for the perpetrators. Harassments that have been ignored in spite of their obviousness all these years."
At the end of this statement, women's rights activists emphasize that:
"We women, while condemning this heinous and anti-human behavior, request all human rights activists in Iran and the world to break their silence in this regard and seriously enter the field. We ask all the security and judicial authorities not to underestimate the suffering of women who have been raped and to provide a safe environment for the society by applying strict and deterrent laws for the aggressors. We seriously want to pursue the unjustly shed blood of Shaler Rasouli, who was victim of violence, and we condemn these anti-human behaviors."
