According to the colleagues of "Hana Human Rights Organization", with the beginning of Muharram, a number of inmates of the women's ward of Urmia's central prison were insulted and beaten while holding mourning ceremonies on various pretexts, such as the non-participation of Sunni prisoners in these ceremonies with the instigation of the prison officers.
According to this report, a number of "dangerous crimes" prisoners of the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison beat a number of Sunni Kurdish prisoners in this ward under the pretext of "insulting the Muharram ceremony".
The prison officials, who were the driving force behind this incident, have also filed a case against a number of female Kurdish prisoners.
The colleagues of the Hana organization also stated; In recent days, with the transfer of the warden of Urmia prison, all the wards have been searched and the personal belongings of many prisoners have been confiscated.
