Statistics on the human rights situation in May 2022 in Iranian Kurdistan

Hana: The Statistics Center of the Hana Human Rights Organization will publish its statistical report on the human rights situation and the violation of the fundamental rights of Kurdish citizens in May 2022, in Iranian Kurdistan.


(Wherever Kurdistan is mentioned, it refers to the provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam, Sanandaj (Kurdistan), and Urmia (West Azerbaijan). However, all the efforts of Hana's colleagues inside the country are aimed at making sure that the news is published and the published cases are verified.

According to statistics recorded by the Statistics Center of the Hana Human Rights Organization, at least 34 Kurdish citizens were arrested in May, 28 border couriers known as Kolbar were killed and injured, six  workers were killed while working,  at least two people were injured by landmine blasts, at least 13 people committed suicide, and seven people were killed in connection with family and honor issues.
Arrests:
In May, 2022, at least 34 Kurdish citizens were arbitrarily detained by the security services of the Islamic Republic of Iran without any arrest warrant issued by the court.
All of them have been identified by the Hana Human Rights Organization, most of whom have been arrested on charges of political activity, collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties in the Islamic Republic, as well as labor, trade union, civil, and environmental activities. According to these statistics, out of the total number of detainees, 16 were for political crimes, 14 were for trade union and civil activities, 1 was a women's rights activist, and one was a student activist.

Kolbar:
According to Hana statistics, in May, 28 Kurdish Kolbar and businessmen were killed and wounded.
Of these, 2 were killed, one of them by direct fire from the Islamic Republic, and one by cold and frost. In this month 26 Kolbars also been injured . Of these, 19 were wounded by direct fire from the  Forces of the Islamic Republic, 3 were injured by natural disasters, and 2 Kolbar were wounded by beatings by the border forces of the Islamic Republic. A Kolbar has also been arrested this month. The highest number of Kolbar casualties is related to the border towns and villages of Kurdistan.
Women:
In May, 2022, at least seven women were arrested and detained by security forces. All were detained for trade union, labor, political, and collaborating activities with the Kurdish opposition parties in the Islamic Republic.
Honor killings:
According to statistics recorded by the Hana Statistics Center, at least seven people were killed in May 2022, in connection with family and honor matters. Of these, 3 were women and 4 were men.
Suicide:
According to statistics recorded by the Hana Statistics Center, at least 13 people committed suicide in the cities and villages of Kurdistan in May. 2022, Of these, 6 were female and 7 were male. Most of the suicides were committed by young people and adolescents. These suicides were due to poor living conditions and sometimes family disputes
Workers:
According to statistics recorded by the Hana Statistics Center in May, 2022, at least seven labor activists have been arrested, two of them women. In this month, 6 Kurdish workers died due to work-related accidents and lack of safety at work, and many were injured.
Mine blast:
According to statistics recorded by the Hana Statistics Center, in May at least two civilians were injured on the Kurdistan border as a result of landmines and explosives left over from the Iran-Iraq war, as well as new mines planted by the border guards of the Islamic Republic. have became.
Most of the victims of these mines were Kurdish farmers, traders.
