Two Kurdish political prisoners went on a hunger strike

Hana: On Sunday, June 13, 2021, two Kurdish political prisoners identified as "Shaker Behrozi" and "Kayhan Mokaram" went on a hunger strike to protest the verdicts.

Shakir Behroozi, from Uromiah, has been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Iran twice on charges of "membership in the Komala Party" and "killing a member of the Revolutionary Guards."

During the trial, he presented the testimony of at least 14 people that he was not present at the time of the murder of a member of the Revolutionary Guards, but the court refused to summon witnesses without considering these documents. He stated that the reason for his hunger strike was to protest against the non-consideration of the evidence and the examination of the documents presented to the court and the issuance of an unjust death sentence.

Keyvan Mokaram is also serving a five-years prison sentence on charges of "acting against national security" through "collaborating with PJAK" . He went on a hunger strike to protest the failure to consider a two-urgency plan to reduce the sentence of his imprisonment.
