According to reports received; He was arrested by the Revolutionary Guards in one of the villages of Piranshahr, along with another person identified as "Omar Faghipour" from the city of Bukan.  He was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad on the charge of moharebeh through membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan and was reduced to life imprisonment by a one-degree commutation in the Appeals Court in 2005. It should be noted that Omar Faqihpour was pardoned after 21 years in prison and was released from The Central Prison of Urmia with a number of political prisoners.
